Specialist introductions

Find cover specialists for your venue.

Browse anonymous profiles of self-employed specialists available near you for free. Pay a one-time connection fee to reveal their contact details. From there it's between you and them — we don't pay their wages, set their rates, or take a cut of their work.

What we are

  • An introduction platform — we connect venues with self-employed specialists
  • A one-time connection fee per introduction (paid by the venue)
  • Review experience and check the credentials required for the work
  • You contract direct with the specialist — your terms, your rate

What we are not

  • A staffing or employment agency
  • The specialist's employer — we don't pay their wages
  • Taking commission from the specialist's earnings (ever)
  • Setting rates, hours or terms — that's between you two

Frequently asked questions

Are you a staffing or employment agency?+

No. We operate strictly as an introduction service under the Employment Agencies Act 1973 and the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003.

We connect a venue (the hirer) with a self-employed specialist (the work-seeker). We don't supply workers under our control, we don't employ them, and we don't act as an employment business.

Who pays the connection fee, and what does it cover?+

The venue (hirer) pays a one-time connection fee — £5 per introduction — to unlock the specialist's name and contact details.

That's the only money that ever flows through us for an emergency match. There is no booking commission, no markup on hours worked, and no recurring platform charge tied to the work the specialist does for you afterwards.

Do you take any cut of what the specialist earns?+

Never. 0% — ever. Whatever rate the venue and specialist agree, the specialist keeps in full. We don't deduct a platform fee from the specialist's invoice, day rate, or chair rent. The connection fee is paid by the venue, separately, before any work starts.

Do you pay the specialist's wages or run PAYE?+

No. We never pay wages, never run PAYE, never deduct Income Tax or National Insurance, and never issue payslips. We are not the specialist's employer.

The specialist is self-employed. They invoice the venue directly, on their own terms, and are responsible for their own Self Assessment, tax, and NI.

How does the self-employment arrangement actually work?+

Once the connection fee unlocks the chat, the venue and specialist deal direct:

  • The specialist sets their own rate, hours and what they will and won't do.
  • The venue agrees the booking direct with the specialist — no contract sits with us.
  • The specialist invoices the venue and is paid by the venue (bank transfer, cash, card — their call).
  • The specialist keeps 100% of that payment.
What about IR35 / off-payroll working rules?+

IR35 / off-payroll status is determined by the working relationship between the venue and the specialist, not by us. As an introduction service we are not in the contractual chain. If the venue is a medium or large business and IR35 applies, it's the venue's responsibility to make a Status Determination Statement for that engagement. Most chair-rent and short-cover arrangements with self-employed specialists fall outside IR35, but you should take your own advice.

What do you verify before a specialist can be listed?+

Before a specialist goes live as available for emergency cover we check:

  • Proof of ID (passport or UK driving licence)
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Public liability insurance (in date)
  • Sector-specific qualifications (e.g. NVQ / VTCT for hair & beauty)
  • Any required local authority licence — e.g. a London borough Special Treatments Licence, or Scotland's 2026 Non-surgical Cosmetic Procedures Act registration for high-risk procedures
Who is liable if something goes wrong on the day?+

Because the specialist works direct for the venue as a self-employed contractor, liability for the work itself sits with the specialist (covered by their public liability insurance) and the venue's own salon / studio insurance. Our responsibility is limited to verifying the specialist's credentials and providing the introduction. We are not party to the engagement and don't supervise the work.

This page is a plain-English summary, not legal or tax advice. Venues and specialists should take their own advice on employment status, IR35 and sector licensing.
